Here’s me, echoing that sentiment (I unfortunately did not reblog anyone’s concerns for second sources) Some people wondered if someone had hacked the blog and made the post to mess with people. The post on the blog did not match the usual formatting, the use of lowercase letters in the title was also a little unusual, and people questioned the use of the word “yaoi” since by this point, most people wouldn’t have called creek that. Many people began to wonder if this was some sort of practical joke. Now, with news like this, there was bound to be some speculation. It was so bad that even the official Tumblr twitter account got involved, tweeting this: Needless to say, people began to lose their minds. It was a call on the South Park Studios blog, where press would usually be released, asking for “yaoi fan art” in all lowercase letters. I don’t have any definitive posting of who discovered it first, but the photo spread like wildfire around the fandom. This is Tweek x Craig, and the collective grief we all went through to get to where we are now. I present to you the rawest examples of exactly what happened between October 25th and October 29th, 2015.
No matter what their opinion on Creek or “that” side of the fanbase, nobody could have predicted the incredible journey we were about to take on.
This day though, unlike many others, ended up rocking the fandom in a way no press release ever had before. At the time, with Nal being in charge of the official forum, news would often come as early as the wee hours of Sunday morning, and many fandom members would keep an eye out on the website in case there was the most early possible release.
